You know, the one that really makes you count the days until its 25th birthday. Mine is the Maserati Quattroporte IV. The earliest ones are going to turn 25 in 2020, so I just need to hang on four more years before making the worst financial decision of my life.

in Neuss, Germany is up for 8,990 Euro, or about $10,200 at the current exchange rate. The navy blue interior is just so 90s that I can’t help but love it.

Wait - 10 grand for a car that will probably burn to the ground? Isn’t that a bit much? And it’ll cost you a lot to get it here.

None, because it’s all legit here.

Alfa Romeo Brera. Oldest ones are 2005, so only a four year wait. Also maybe by then I’ll have some money to actually buy one.

Honda Beat, which is actually technically now. But, I don’t have the funds for such an endeavor. Maybe someday I will. Although, it’s kind of a bid dilemma for me. I don’t know if I would fit in one. I’d hate to import the thing over here and then not fit. Think someone who's gone through the trouble of importing a Beat would let me sit in it? Lol

What I’ve got now, but with a few more throttle bodies under the hood, another gear in the trans, and about 80 more horsepower. 2020 and ‘95 models with the 3.2L engine become eligible.

They say something about fuel prices, I’ll say that I don’t have to pay to see a doctor.

Ooh I love those things :) would you go for the 2.8TT or the V8?
On the other side of the pond we don’t have those kind of restrictions, but I’d love to find a 2nd gen Chevrolet Corvair. Really really like those, and they’d be quite the sizeable family car over here.
Ideally I'd like to find one that was converted for the US postal service if they exist. As part of the conversion they made them RHD!

1) FI Lada Niva
2) R34 GT-R
3) Fiat Coupe (5cyl 20v turbo, so close...)
4) Suzuki Cappuccino (early ones are already game, but an EA21R BA is the target)

The best thing is that fuel prices are at an all time low. I payed 65 € for a full tank of premium fuel on monday. Diesel is even cheaper.

Nissan Stagea Autech. And S15. Oh. And don’t forget the Jaguar XFR - S sportbrake. And I almost forgot. TVR Sagaris.

What are your paycheck and sales taxes? I pay 28% on my paycheck, 4.25%-8.2% sales tax, and my heath/dental/vision insurance is only $73 or so per month.
Plus, I can get a liter of gas for 59 cents.

And no, you can’t import a car to Canada first, then to the US to get around the law. I’ve seen a few people try that with harsh punishments.

Initial reaction is R34, but they will undoubtedly cost more than my house by the time that happens. So maybe a TVR Cerbera. Or a Tuscan if money permits.

Is one any more reliable than the other? I love me some V8, but would ultimately sacrifice power for cost savings.
![]() 04/15/2016 at 11:33 |

Hmmm, I've got no idea about the V8s but by the time the QP rolled around they'd nailed the problems in the V6. The 4-cam ones in the latest cars are the only Mas V6s I've every heard described as 'bombproof' :)

This 1993 Prelude Si VTEC. This generation is eligible for import starting in a few months (I think August), but this one in particular is ridiculously clean and reasonably priced.

Actually, what I’m really waiting for is the money to enact the travel plan.
I want to fly down to South Africa, but an Alfetta saloon and drive it back up through Africa and Europe to the UK :) would make for a hell of a trip

I want an R33 GT-R. Not an R34, not an R32. It’s gotta be an R33. White, because I have a thing for white cars all of the sudden.
I’m not even huge into Japanese cars (both of my stallions are German).

Around 12% on my pay. The VAT on everything is 20%. I can get most things free, I will pay for glasses, some dental work and prescriptions (which is a standard fee roughly $12). With the exception of the prescriptions it’s all covered under my health plan I get from my employer for free. Fuel is $1.42 a litre and over half of that is tax.

Japanese classics, the guys that Doug went through to get his Skyline, have a Beat. I’m sure they’d be happy to let you sit in it and see how you fit.

So we more or less end up paying the same on taxes, not much difference in insurance, and gas is way cheaper here.
Where do you live?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_rates…
Income tax is so much higher in most of the Europe than your 12%

Mark IV JDM Supra. I assume I could find a clean example easier in Japan. And because “JDM Tyte yo,” I could probably hoon it for 1-3 years and sell it for what I paid for it. And the twins, lets not forget the twins....

I’m in the lower tax brackets in the UK, because I’m not a massively high earner. At least 12% is what I paid in the last year. Could be a miscalculation on my part.
![]() 04/15/2016 at 12:05 |

Nope. I asked him the same thing. For what it’s worth, he said that there’s no way he’d be able to do it again and that he had to work with someone he knew in DMV or customs or something to pull it off. He claims it’s completely legal, but I get the feeling it’s more of a bureaucratic loophole he was able to find. It is registered as a Skyline.

I think mine is somewhere around £52 from when the light comes on. Which in a golf is of course about an 1/8th tank.

I didn’t research much, numbers for GB:
47% total made up of 45% tax on marginal additional annual income above £150,000, 40% between £42,000 and £150,000, 20% between £11,000 and £42,000, 0% below; plus national insurance contributions at various rates between 2% and 13.8%
Based on this, you must make below 11k pounds per year (0% tax below 11k) and pay only your national insurance contribution.
I am in a very high income bracket - I used to pay close to nothing as well when I was younger, and I would get money back at tax time too. Now, I pay so much in taxes every month, and at the end of the year, I still owe money.

I’m in the second bracket, but of course you only get taxed on everything over 11k. Hence the skewed results. But yes it was higher tax, I miscalculated. Still the original point stands, because we don’t have the 25 year rule, we can import any car.

2. 1997 Nissan GTR R33 400R
3. 2002 Mazda RX-7 Spirit R Type-A (the one I really REALLY want!!)
